WORKSHOP 3- BERLIN, GERMANY

WORKSHOP 3- BERLIN, GERMANY

Our third workshop, in Germany, was five days and consisted of a continuation of the lesson study cycle that was initiated in the previous workshop, with observation of lessons in the participating school. The primary focus of this workshop was developing and integrating diverse teaching methods into the classroom. This was followed by reflection sessions and a further cycle of lesson development and model refinement. During this LTT, the teachers also reviewed and provided feedback on the handbooks that had been created thus far, making edits where necessary. All visiting teachers also had the opportunity to observe their German partner teachers in the classroom.

The main tangible outcome of this LTT was the revision and refinement of the Diverse teaching methods Handbook (O4), which was retitled to the “Constructivist Teaching Methods” Handbook to better describe and align with the overall TfT model for learning being developed in the project. The initial draft was circulated to all participants prior to the LTT, and time during the workshop was given over to its evaluation and refinement. Other outcomes included a second iteration of a “Theory of Change” with the partners, which encouraged them to reflect on their progress toward their individual goals and plan ahead in order to achieve their goals. Time was also spent updating and reviewing the chosen online tools (Schoology, Google) we were using, to support our developing community of practice.

In addition, the workshop itself was evaluated using a google form, and the results were used to facilitate workshop development going forward.
